Barney McGrew, who won the opener on this card last year, has been in poor form since returning from a couple of very good efforts in Dubai but don't be surprised by a big run as he's dropped massively in the weights since last summer. The bottom four are all winners over the C&D and the best of them may prove to be MISPLACED FORTUNE, third in Ayr's Silver Cup last year and better for a recent run at Ripon which should have put him spot-on to take this. Klynch has been in superb form but has paid the price at the weights as he's gone up 9lb for his victory at Ayr last week. Amenable struggled after completing a hat-trick last summer though the handicapper has released his grip a little while all six of Singeur's victories have been over the minimum trip. Roker Park bounced back to form at Catterick and, with his yard firing on all cylinders, it would be no surprise to see him defy a 5lb rise.
