In depth

Verdict

Grand Canyon ran well again over 1m4f at Ripon last time having won over today’s trip at Redcar before that. The return to 1m2f should suit but BRIARDALE makes more appeal. The latter made the most of a tumble down the weights to score over track and trip last month and there should be more to come from James Bethell’s charge. Bogardus had been holding his form well on the all-weather until well beaten in better company than this at Ripon while Paddy's Rock is much better than his poor reappearance run behind the selection here suggests. The Third Man is back on a winning mark as he returns to the all-weather and Mumford steps up in trip on his handicap debut.
