    Verdict

Heynestown Pride, Farne Isle and Minstrel Hall look the principals in a tough opener for punters with the tentative vote going to Heynestown Pride. The seven-year-old from the Nicky Richards yard was a good second behind Maiden Voyage last time and although he has a 221 day absence to overcome he is taken to score under conditions that suit. Farne Isle rates the main danger she was a fair sixth behind Doce Vida last time in a better race. However, she gave the impression she would be suited by a longer trip on that occasion so for that reason is opposed. Minstrel Hall is also worthy of respect on her best form but she has been let down by her jumping of late so can not be backed with any confidence. Of the remainder Leap Year Lass was in front of Farne Isle last time and could go well but that was the first form she had ever shown and it is hard to know if she will be able to reproduce it again. Second Affair is a well bred sort from a shrewd yard and is worth noting in the market but for the winner we return to the more experienced Heynestown Pride
