In depth

Verdict

Holdin Fort is the obvious one on the evidence available and he is readily preferred to Miss Puffle and Chastity, while Desert Maze can only learn from this and is one to watch on this occasion. Chastity is a halt-sister to Miss Emma - a six-furlong winner as a juvenile - so may be capable of paying her way before too long. Her yard have not been noted for first time out winners though and she too makes limited appeal for win only purposes. Miss Puffle is a half-sister to smart juvenile Miss Meggy and makes the most interest for the forecast slot. Again her yard's youngsters have yet to set the world alight and it will be very surprising if she is capable of getting the better of the selection. Holdin Fort won easily on her debut at Musselburgh in June and was then far from disgraced in finishing seventh in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot. That form is good enough to see her through a contest like this and it will be a major blow for her connections if she cannot brush this lot aside.
