In depth

Verdict

Spirit Calling has to be of interest after just the three starts necessary for a handicap mark but Martin Todhunter's gelding does not appear to be particularly well treated and a safer bet looks to be Bright Sparky, who is preferred to Paint The Lily. The last mentioned has claims on the pick of his form but is inconsistent so may be best watched. Thenford Lord has plenty of weight for what he has achieved, while Dolans Bay has not progressed as much as may have been anticipated. General Hardi remains a maiden and a safer option looks to lie with Bright Sparky, who stayed this trip well enough when successful at Catterick last time and he is taken to defy the rise in the weights for that success.
