In depth

Verdict

Hot Weld comes from the bang-in-form yard of Ferdy Murphy and can provide his trainer with another winner here, the Tynedale the obvious danger, while Lord Rosskit can go well. The selection stayed on well to slam his field over further than this at Sedgefield last time in similar conditions to today and looked like he had more to come. He travelled and jumped well and looks a thorough stayer who is capable of defying his penalty. Thynedale steps up in trip here after winning here over 2m 4f last time. The ground might not suit the Good Thyne gelding as much as his rival, and though he shaped as if further would suit he also has that to prove, so we will just oppose him here. Of the others, the Lord Americo gelding Lord Rosskit should handle conditions and trip, though how fit he will be first time is open to question. But Hot Weld will have no such questions to answer and he is our choice here.
