    In depth

    Verdict

A real headscratcher with a number of these runners stepping up to two miles for the first time. Romany Prince does at least look to have the makings of a stayer. He probably found the ground on the fast side at Newmarket last time out but connections have been bullish about his abilities over further next season. A staying handicap would not be the same without John Dunlop's presence. Rahwaan looks the better of his two having already won over two miles. The surface is probably to his liking but his current handicap mark is none-too-generous. High Hope has done most of its racing in France and should have no problems with the trip. Oriental Empress is a confirmed stayer albeit successful in lower grade events. Master McGrath is selected as the TEAMtalk pick. Martin Pipe's charge was backed off the boards at Ayr last time out and the Cesarewitch winning team of Pipe and Moore could gain compensation despite the cheekiness of the handicapper in putting him up 4lbs for that run. Starzaan and Octane do not stand out as obvious stayers and are readily opposed.
