In depth

Verdict

Mashaair is the pick ahead of Bijli, with Master Pegasus and Woodcote Place seen as possible dangers. Division two of the maiden does not look to have the same strength in depth as the race before, and Mashaair looks the one judged on a very creditable effort behind Papal Bull at Leicester last October. The latter came out to frank the form in no uncertain terms in the Chester Vase, and it will be disappointing if Mashaair, a half-brother to Haafhd, cannot step up on that debut effort with trip and ground to suit. Bijli will be fancied to step up on last season's last of four at Newmarket on what was his sole start to date. The son of Key Of Luck was totally outpaced over the five furlongs that day and snow steps up to a trip much more in keeping with his breeding. The stable has been in good form and it will be a surprise if he does not give a much better showing on his return to the fray. Woodcote Place displayed a bit of ability in two runs on the all-weather, but might find a couple of improvers in his path today, and or vote stays with Mashaair.
