Verdict

A fascinating little race where we'll opt for SOCIETY ROCK to confirm Ascot placings with Corporal Maddox although the well regarded Inler is clearly a fascinating runner. Rock Jock shouldn't be underestimated but has won only once whilst Mister Hughie has a little to prove in a small field following his odds-on defeat at Hamilton. Angel's Pursuit is the top-rated runner but needs to prove that he has trained on over the winter whilst this represents a huge step up in class for Free For All. Inler failed to justify the hype in the Guineas where he pulled hard and he may prove better suited by this trip until he learns to settle but his pedigree strongly suggests that he'll be seen to better effect over further in time. Corporal Maddox meets the selection on 3lbs better terms for his half length beating so has an obvious chance of reversing the form but he enjoyed a clearer passage through the race than his rival whose chance looked over when he found himself short of room between the two pole until well inside the final furlong. However, he showed a blistering turn of foot to quicken when a gap did appear to suggest that Society Rock may just be above average.
