Verdict

Mamool gets the vote in this tight race for punters to call with Gamut and Mubtaker rated as the main dangers. The selection suffered a leg injury in the Melbourne Cup last year but came back to score in impressive fashion at Goodwood last time when beating Dubai Success. This former Group 1 winner looked like one to stay on the right side of that day and he is given the confident vote. Gamut was outclassed in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes on this track last month but his previous effort when winning the Princess of Wales stakes at Newmarket would give him a good chance today. He won¿t mind a bit of rain and he is entitled to plenty of respect. Mubtaker was also outclassed last time and finished behind Gamut in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. He would have claims on the pick of his form but he looks some way off the force that he was in 2003 and he is taken on today. Lochbuie looks the best of the remainder as he ran with credit in the Goodwood Cup last time, but Mamool sets the benchmark for the rest here and he is taken to score.
