      Verdict

Eswarah has leading claims over Favorita, with Songthrush and Aunt Julia best of the remainder. Michael Jarvis may have a leading candidate for the Oaks if Eswarah is as impressive as she was when brushing aside Alumni on her debut over the course and distance in April. A daughter of the stable's 1986 Epsom heroine Midway Lady, she has by all account been working well at home since and can make amends for the defeat of the yard's other Oaks entry Ayam Zaman at Lingfield last week. She is not as experienced as Favorita, but Clive Brittain's filly was found wanting in the 1,000 Guineas and although she may improve for the step up in trip, she does not have the same scope as the selection. Songthrush is another that has more on her plate after chasing home Sheboygan at Lingfield, while Aunt Julia faded behind National Trust at Windsor, and on that form has plenty on her plate. Eswarah has a bright future though and is very much the one to concentrate on today.
