Verdict

This looks a wide open renewal, with many of the 14 runners in with a squeak. Zabaglione has reportedly been working well ahead of his reappearance, and will find conditions here much more to his liking than when well beaten in testing conditions at Saint-Cloud last term. El Coto will be fitter than most, having bounced back with a victory over seven furlongs at Doncaster, while Camille Pissarro impressed when scoring easily on the all-weather at Wolverhampton. Bush Cat has the assistance of Frankie Dettori, while Drury Lane comes from a stable very much in form at present. All in all it is a hard one to call, but a tentative vote goes to Impersonator. John Dunlop and Pat Eddery have already teamed up to good effect this season and the three-year-old, who would appreciate some rain to help his cause has had this race as his target since signing off with a nursery win at Doncaster last backend. Reported to have done well over the winter, Impersonator should go close.
