In depth

Verdict

Just Tim is feasibly well treated despite a 6lb penalty for his win at Chepstow last month and has to be respected but preference is for Magic Amour, who gets the vote over Spirit's Awakening. The last mentioned showed improved form at Sandown last time but that was on a soft surface and John Akehurst's gelding may want similar conditions to be at his best. Alan Swinbank has booked Frankie Dettori for the top weight Pop Up Again but she has yet to prove her effectiveness over today's trip and of more interest may be Neil Graham's Habshan, who is open to improvement on only his second start in a handicap. Polytrack winner Muyassir disappointed back on turf last time and is probably best watched in a race that is taken to go to Magic Amour. Ian Williams has his string in fine fettle at present and, having found just Efidium too good in a hotter race than this on his reappearance at York last time, the son of Sanglamore can be expected to give his backers a good run for their money.
