In depth

Verdict

With the form of Westerly Air difficult to evaluate and Wondrous Joy coming from a stable out of form, the percentage call looks to be In A Silent Way, who is taken to complete a hat-trick. Admittedly the Michael Jarvis-trained filly has gone up another 5lbs for her most recent success over course and distance but the daughter of Desert Prince won with plenty in hand that day and is open to further improvement. Wondrous Joy has claims on the evidence of her last time out defeat of Fast Foil but, as we have said, Ed Dunlop's team are badly out of form at present so she is probably best watched. The lightweight Doris Souter and the consistent Wasted Talent are others to consider but a bigger threat may be Westerly Air. Sir Michael Stoute's filly has had the three runs necessary for a handicap mark and opened her account by winning a maiden on the all-weather at Wolverhampton last time. She has been allotted a mark of 77 for her handicap debut and may have been let in lightly but we prefer to side with the proven ability of In A Silent Way.
