In depth

Verdict

Charli Parcs looked a smart prospect when making a winning UK debut last year but he then fell when odds-on at the same track and was only sixth in the Triumph when well backed - he has a bit to prove now. HIGH BRIDGE ran a cracker on his return to action at Ascot. He won twice over course and distance last season before running in the Supreme Novices’ and looks the one to beat with Alex Ferguson’s claim in his favour. The going is not going to suit Amour de Nuit but he has improved this season. Mount Mews was a shade disappointing when a hot favourite at Ayr but may have needed the run so makes more appeal than the mare Poppy Kay and Master Of Irony. Cosmeapolitan won his only race over hurdles here last year but hasn’t pulled up any trees on the Flat since.
