Verdict

Most of these nicely-bred fillies could do with a victory for the paddocks. That certainly applies to Etched, whose form figures don't impress but who wasn't beaten far when last of five in a Listed contest last time. Jim Bolger runs two and Kevin Manning's presence on board the once-raced White Lotus suggests she's further forward than the newcomer Alyssum, though the latter is a half-sister to some useful winners. The Galileo filly Surprisingly started favourite for her debut at the Curragh and though unable to get into the action will have benefited from the experience so she should be in the firing-line. SHALAMANKA was sent to Dundalk for her introduction last month and was totally unfancied but she belied her odds with an eye-catching run behind Waarif and, with that under her belt, can take this for Michael Halford.
