Spa Wells has only won twice from 30 starts over hurdles but has come close on several occasions including at Bellewstown last time when just failing to catch Major Harry. A 4lb rise looks a bit harsh but he should be in the firing-line again. Space Race makes his handicap debut over timber after just four runs and looks a little high in the weights but Pretty Valira is on the upgrade and it would be no surprise to see her follow-up her recent success at Uttoxeter. Aliceaneileen is still a maiden after 32 career starts, half of them over hurdles, and she's on a high enough mark but CARLOWSANTANA is 1lb lower in the weights than when scoring at Gowran last year and two recent runs on the Flat should have put him spot-on for this return to hurdles.
