Verdict

Dermot Weld won this last year and the lightly-raced Stay De Night is one for the short-list as he wasn't at his best on his hat-trick attempt at Leopardstown in September. EASTERN RULES (NAP) has done most of his racing at Meydan over the past two seasons with just two narrow defeats at Group 3 level last summer away from Dubai. He has an excellent strike-rate so gets the vote to make a successful return. Richard Fahey sends Heaven's Guest from Yorkshire and the classy handicapper has another crack at this level though he's failed when stepped up on previous occasions. Father Frost, a maiden winner at Cork on his debut, didn't really impress on his next start at Navan while Some Spirit looks to have more to do. Slipper Orchid, like the selection a regular at Meydan, has been placed at this level in the past and can make her presence felt.
