In depth

Verdict

A nasty race to end the day, a 17-runner apprentice handicap, which is little better than a seller. King Of Peru is a good ride for an apprentice and should go well, while the speedy Pop The Cork, who won this event last year, can race off a 7lb lower mark and looks sure to be involved in the finish. Strensall comes here at the top of his form and is sure to go well with Paul Hanagan on board. These apprentice races are normally run at a fair pace which will suit the hold up horse Statoyork. He has plenty to do from his outside draw, but he should be out of trouble out there and his rider who knows him well, will be able to produce him late.
