In depth

Verdict

Kirkby's Treasure is the pick ahead of Sands Of Barra, Oeuf A la Neige and Zabeel Tower in the opener. Kirkby's Treasure has been a model of consistency of late, winning two of his last four starts, and is out to get the losses back after his narrow defeat over a mile here 16-days ago. Successful four times over today's course-and-distance in the past, he still appears extremely well-weighted compared to last year, and can make the most of his apprentice rider's allowance as well. Sands Of Barra bids to follow up a win at Chester where he made the most of a good draw, and with the aids left off again, he can give the selection most to do. Oeuf A la Neige ran a blinder over six-furlongs at Newcastle, but is equally adept over today's trip, and should at least maintain recent form over Zabeel Tower. However, Kirkby's Treasure is the one that they all have to beat.
