In depth

Verdict

A tough sprint in which Mutasawwar, General Smith and Sharp Hat are all likely to have their supporters. Mutasawwar is one of the most frustrating sprinters in training but he was nothing but game in landing a recent event at Warwick. He ran on well when push came to shove on that evening but the handicapper has put him up three pounds for that win and Mr Spliffy (who reopposes today) has not upheld the form since. General Smith is probably the much likelier option of tre Bradley team. He missed the break completely last time out at Lingfield but still managed to win under Steve Drowne. Provided he doesn't consent to miss the break this time around - there are still races to be won with him off this mark. Sharp Hat is undoubtedly one of the gamest sprinters in training. He showed age to be no barrier when running a decent third to Regal Song at Redcar on Saturday. He will probably have a solo from this low draw and should run his usual game race. Whether he is handicapped to win this is another matter entirely. College Maid has the benefit of course and distance form. A recent winner of a fillies event at the track; she will need to produce more to be in the shake-up here. Fairgame Man has ability although rarely shows consistency. A better bet may be stablemate, Polar Impact. He looked to be returning back to some assemblance of form with a second placing at Hamilton over this trip and the market should be consulted today. In a tough race, we will go with General Smith as the selection although the market is watched with regard to Polar Impact.
