Verdict

This race is named in honour of one of Paul Nicholls’ stable stars and the yard won the first staging last year. Getaway Trump is the highest rated of these having won twice over fences but he has to give weight to his five rivals and his best form is on quicker ground. MAHLERVOUS ran a useful novice to a neck at Sandown in November and then won over 3m at Kelso when almost 15 lengths ahead of Castletown – he is capable of causing a minor upset. Gaelik Coast goes beyond 2m for the first time but failed to handle heavy going at Haydock. Glenduff is going chasing for the first time after a lay-off.
