Verdict

A big prize on offer for this showcase handicap and it could go to Escayola, with Kristensen and Ravenglass fighting for the place money. The Willie Haggas trained three-year-old has had four races this season, and the last was the most impressive, beating Establishment by a very comfortable three and a half lengths, confirming that the handicapper hasn¿t got him in his grip as yet. Kristensen though will be a big danger, he has taken in some very good races this season including the Cesarewitch where he ran out of his skin to take third behind Landing Light. Ravenglass was well beaten in that Newmarket showpiece but comes into the reckoning here on his previous victory over One Off at Yarmouth. Top weight Archduke Ferdinand is also capable of running a decent race but Escayola is progressive and is the pick of the bunch.
