    In depth

    Verdict

Shulmin's best runs have come at Sedgefield, whilst Jballingall returns from a long absence and it may pay to concentrate on the course and distance winners. Preference is for a back-to-form NELLIEDONETHAT ahead of Snowy. Backers will need to forgive his latest run at Ayr where he was never at the races and was pulled up fairly early. It is interesting that he is turned out quickly and whilst this mark of 92 demands more improvement (has won off 95 over hurdles), this easier track and quicker ground may see a changed horse. Snowy is a likely danger; Peter Monteith's 11-year-old has not been disgraced in defeat recently and he is not the most-exposed around. Two of his four chase wins have come at the track and he has no problem carrying big weights. Stravagain's recent hurdles run may be boosted by Percutant and Singalongtasveer in our previous race. Arctic Ghost was further back in that race when sporting blinkers, but those are off today, whilst his former stablemate Jballingall is not one to rule out on his comeback, although it would be some training performance if he was to win after 803 days off. Esquillion looks well-handicapped on old form but that was some time ago, and instead we will plump for Nelliedonethat.
