        Verdict

        Kimbear was only fifth in this last year after winning it the previous season. He's one of three from Doug Watson's yard and the leading trainer looks to have a better chance with GOLDEN GOAL, who easily beat Desert Doctor in a track record 7f handicap before finding a stop-start pace against him next time. Another from the yard, Midnight Sands, won his last five starts here last winter but didn't take to racing in the USA in the autumn. North America would win this on his 2019 form and had excuses in two runs last winter. His stable also run the very progressive Tuz with William Buick on board and he'll be better for his opening run as will Chiefdom.
