In depth

Verdict

Tenenbaum looked a classy stayer in the making in France last year and should do well for Godolphin but his best form has been on ground with plenty of give and he's been absent since October. Goodwood Cup winner Saddler's Rock has plenty going for him and his compatriot Royal Diamond could hardly have been in better form when last seen as he landed the Irish St Leger. Jakkalberry is another really smart stayer who produced an outstanding run when third in the Melbourne Cup and any of the aforementioned quartet could win this if fit enough after long breaks. STAR EMPIRE won the trial for this three weeks ago, beating Ahzeemah in a tight finish which included Certerach. Chicago, who finished fifth, was brought wide and stayed on strongly and, as that race was run at a slow gallop, today's result could easily be completely different but we'll take the winner to come out on top again.
