Verdict

Alcopop can make up for his recent lapse at the expense of She's Our Native and Celtic Star. Alcopop has not impressed greatly with his jumping since going chasing, but he did manage to get round in one piece to score at Doncaster the time before last. The son of Alderbrook showed a lot of resolution that day to get back up and beat Jodante when headed, and we are prepared to forgive him his lapse at Huntingdon on Monday when he departed at the first. If none the worse for that, Venetia Williams' charge can pay to support. She's Our Native made the most of the fact that there were quite a few fallers when opening her account over fences at Hereford, but did it well enough, and can be excused her defeat there next time due to carrying the welter burden of 12st 3lb. The former Philip Hobbs inmate seems to have improved since joining Evan Williams, and will be a major player here. Celtic Star has his first outing since October and his form does not look up to much anyway, so if Alcopop gets his jumping together today, he really should be the one to beat.
