Scales was put up a massive 12lb after winning over course and distance 11 days ago, which seems harsh. But he still has place claims in a race in which few arrive in any sort of form. At the other end of the handicap, Kublai could go well while David Loder is back among the winners and Old Pride is not without a chance. Jim Best is very capable of getting one ready at home so PLANETOID's absence since April is not a worry. He was in good form on the all weather around this time last year and is still quite unexposed over hurdles. Bishop Wulstan and Tanit River are others to consider.
