In depth

Verdict

Makeabreak gets the vote here ahead of Fountain Crumble and Koral Bay. Having won her bumper, Makeabreak saw out the trip well enough at Hereford last time when second to Haringay on her hurdling debut and looks to be a leading player here today. Boberelle's Windsor second to Kaldouas two runs ago gives her a chance, while, being a half-sister to the Scottish National winner Joe's Edge, Eva's Edge is worthy of a mention. Worcester bumper winner, Fountain Crumble, has shown enough in two hurdling runs to be fancied at this level. Koral Bay would hold claims based on French promise, and even though her British debut was modest, first-time blinkers might help the cause. Miss Chippy disappointed last time but, based on her bumper debut, this half-sister to some decent horses could go well. Noun de la Thinte showed improved form when third at Fontwell last time so is another to consider, while Polyanthus Jones would have needed her latest run but had looked very promising in two starts back in 2003. Finally, Samandara is from a stable in form and showed some improvement in first-time headgear last time, but the vote stays with Makeabreak.
