In depth

Verdict

Brother Bennett landed a bumper for Liz Doyle at Killarney in May and was then sold for 60,000 euros and Jim Best will get races out of him over hurdles. ALTO DES MOTTES could prove good enough in a tricky opener as he landed a bumper in France and made an encouraging debut over timber when chasing home the long odds-on Zulu Oscar at Taunton. Days Of Heaven started odds-on for his hurdling debut at Aintree but had to settle for third. He again started favourite at Newbury but almost refused to race and though getting back into contention he not surprisingly weakened from the last. Neck Or Nothing, a bumper winner at Punchestown, looked like making a successful debut over timber at Wincanton but found little when asked though he looks to have plenty of potential. With Richard Johnson riding he should do better than stablemate Ink Master, who looks as though a longer trip would suit.
