In depth

Verdict

A very modest race to start with and one that can go to the familiar figure of Martin Pipe, who sends out Altesse De Sou who should have to much in the locker for Think Quick and Ede's who are two hopeful options out of the rest. Blue Leader would also have claims if he recaptures any of his old sparkle and is worth monitoring in the betting. However, Pipe has wiped the floor with all comers in races of this nature down the years and, although this is chicken feed in comparison to some of the prizes already landed by the champion trainer this season, his attention to detail can again become evident today. Think Quick showed an aptitude for this game when he made his debut under National Hunt rules and, with that experience of the track behind him, he holds sound each-way claims here. Whereas Ede's, who won a modest contest at Plumpton last March, reverted to type when he was last seen out and now has a little to prove. Therefore the most solid option appears to be Altesse De Sou, who should appreciate this drop in grade today.
