Verdict

Pires is one of the most versatile horses in training and, after scoring over fences last time, was due to run over hurdles here yesterday where he had a big chance. Tony Martin also runs Quick Jack, who created a surprise when beating two much better fancied rivals at Newmarket though that was over 1m4f and this may prove too short. Star Links did well to land a Galway handicap last week though an 8lb rise looks excessive so this can go to CAPITOL HILL. He won a Galway handicap on soft ground before finishing last of three at Killarney where he pulled too hard. Barack caused a surprise when landing a strong Leopardstown handicap as he had been well beaten behind today's rival Maundy Money on heavy ground at Galway. Majestic Queen and Piet Mondrian are others to note in a wide-open handicap.
