In depth

Verdict

These are usually strange races to evaluate and Ted Veale, who is much better known as a jumper these days and finished third in the Galway Hurdle, has an entry in the Cesarewitch. Rebel Fitz, who won this a year ago, has a tremendous strike-rate of 18-29 and is a real credit to Mick Winters. A Grade 1 winner over fences, he was having his first start since October when runner-up at Galway last month so should be ready for this. Sir Mark Prescott doesn't send many horses to Ireland so the presence of SEA PRIDE here is intriguing. The beautifully-bred daughter of Sea The Stars has taken a long time to mature but scored easily in a Kempton maiden last week and should have the pace to see these rivals off under Nina Carberry. Dual winning hurdler Do Try Dolly could prove best of the remainder.
