Verdict

Division two of this handicap looks just as poor as the first, but slightly easier to pick the winner in the shape of CAVALRY GUARD with Loyal Royal and Tuning Fork likely to figure in the shake up. The selection has a nice looking draw here and was a last time out winner over course and distance. He'll be carrying just three pounds extra than he did then and with the same pilot on board he should be at his best again off a very competitive mark. Loyal Royal has been nothing if not consistent with back to back placings in the last two runs. The form from the penultimate start took a knock two days ago and connections hope the step up in trip will bring about the needed improvement. Tuning Fork could be nice at a bigger price for the minor honours after not scoring since his debut in 2003 but the gelding has at least landed some prize money recently. Evenstorm and First in Show could be two others to considered but it's hard to see them winning so the vote goes to Cavalry Guard.
