Verdict

Zed Candy stays this far over hurdles and will probably get home on the level but of more concern is his ability to handle this surface as well as he goes on other, slower conditions, so we'll oppose him with DEFENCE OF REALM. Amateur star Simon Walker is booked for the mount on the George Baker-trained gelding, who went close to winning over this trip at Kempton a couple of starts back and may not have had the pace to cope with the drop to a 10f claimer back at that track last time. The return to this distance and a 2lb drop makes him look an attractive proposition. Stratford hurdle winner Olivino comes here in form and stays well, while he is also on a competitive mark, so he has to be given plenty of respect.
