Verdict

There's less to go on in the second division and it would appear to be the weaker race. Cat Patrol sets the standard but this could go to a newcomer and CAERUS may be the one to get his career off to a winning start. Cat Patrol ran as well as could have been expected in a Listed race last time having previously finished second over five furlongs at this track. He should relish the sixth furlong and his experience will come in handy. Strike Command may benefit from the switch to racing on this surface but he hasn't achieved a great deal to date and Chasing Amy would also appear vulnerable. Fortunate Bid has to be respected but it's also well worth considering Kutanga who's related to sprint winners in the States but we're going to side with Caerus. Four of William Knight's nine juvenile winners have come at this track with a level stakes profit in excess of a hundred pounds; that alone is enough to make the sixty thousand dollar purchase of interest here before his useful American pedigree is considered. His wide draw is a negative but it looks well worth taking a chance with Caerus in a race that may not take a great deal of winning. (Ian Ogg)
