In depth

Verdict

Azygous is the pick in a tight contest to open proceedings on this decent mixed card, with Wovoka, Grimes Faith, Dusty City and Piccostar all worth a mention. This is a hard one to call, but with Rod Millman's juveniles in such good form at present, we take Azygous to follow up his recent debut success over the course and distance. He was reportedly backward that day but looked anything but as he beat Piccostar by just under two lengths, and on the same terms can repeat the feat, despite the latter improving since to open her account over track and trip as well. Grimes Faith showed a bit of temperament when also successful here last time but Richard Hughes knows what to expect, while both Dusty City and Danjet have visited the winner's enclosure in their first season. All in all, only a narrow vote goes the way of Azygous.
