In depth

Verdict

Whirly Bird can go in again at the expense of Kathryn Janeway, Saraba and Dandygrey Russett. Amanda Perrett is another trainer that can be followed at present, and she should take this fillies' handicap with Whirly Bird who showed that she had lost none of her zest when returning with a bang here on the Polytrack three weeks ago. The impeccably-bred daughter of Nashwan out of a Shirley Heights mare gained two all-weather successes last year and looked to have been let in lightly off 66 when scoring last time. She tired in the closing stages, but that was forgivable on what was her first outing in six months, and there is definitely more to come. She should have no trouble staying a bit further as well this term, being a half-sister to Oaks fourth Inchberry, and should outclass today's opposition. Kathryn Janeway went close on her return to action when just touched off by Linnet at Warwick but should play second fiddle again, while Saraba looks well held on a line through Tromp, whom the selection has beaten twice in the past. Dandygrey Russett is already looking exposed, and it will take a good performance to stop Whirly Bird from completing a four-timer.
