      Verdict

Midnight Lace gets a tentative vote over Silver Bark and Villarosi, with Gossip Queen and Heat Alert worth a mention. Midnight Lace has that bit more experience than most of her rivals, and Richard Hannon's filly should play a major part here. The daughter of Tomba showed little on Turf but finished fast behind Heartsonfire when a close third on her all-weather debut at Wolverhampton, with subsequent dual scorer Ryedane behind in fifth. That form is not bad in the context of this race, and as long as she handles the faster Polytrack, Midnight Lace should be bang in there at the finish over this longer trip. Silver Bark improved as well when trying this surface for the first time last month and is another that should come into her own over today's journey, while Villarosi shaped well on her sole start at Newmarket, but that was on softish ground. Gossip Queen showed little on her Wolverhampton introduction and Heat Alert was always in arrears on her debut over the course and distance recently. All should improve in time, but for now Midnight Lace might have too much experience and is the one to beat.
