Verdict

Halicarnassus is best in at the weights judged by official BHA ratings but he disappointed in his last two starts in Dubai and may be best watched today in a race that is taken to go to PREMIO LOCO, who gets the verdict ahead of Suits Me. Tom Tate's gelding has shown much improved form of late, progressing from handicaps into Listed company and he has to be respected in this grade, although he is closely matched with Re Barolo on their running here last month. Kandidate is not as good as once was but is still capable, while Ralph Beckett's Without A Prayer ran better in his last two starts in Dubai and has claims if able to reproduce a similar level of form here. Richard Hannon's Scintillo was good value for his win in a Listed race at Kempton last time and has claims along with John Gosden's Bronze Cannon, who is less exposed than most of these. Several have chances in the Winter Derby but it is hard to get away from Premio Loco, who has won his two races this term in good fashion and a reproduction of form shown in either race may well suffice.
