In depth

Verdict

A good race to close the card can go to Kentucky King, who can successfully round-off a full book of rides for former champion jockey Kevin Darley if he repeats his latest effort ¿ where he dead-heated over course and distance with the admirable African Sahara, who re-opposes on the same terms today. There are numerous dangers though and it will be interesting to see how much support arrives for Harrison Point, who made a winning debut for Peter Chapple-Hyam last month. However, he did not look to be the most straightforward of characters for John Gosden last term and remains one to have reservations about just for the time being. Whereas, Caroubier is holding his form well and will be hard to keep out of the frame if he gives his running. Even so, Kentucky King has now started to repay the faith shown in him by his connections after a restricted campaign from last season. The well-bred gelding is still open to plenty of improvement and he will be very hard to master if he gets a clear passage today.
