    Verdict

An uninspiring contest to get proceedings under way here but we'll take WUNDER STRIKE to win ahead of Cavalry Guard and Inquisitress. Jim Boyles gelding goes well for today's jockey Nicky Mackay having helped land a gamble for the connections last year at Kempton and can add to that sole all-weather success today over an ideal trip. The selection has since won off higher marks than this on the turf and came back to form last time when third over course and distance, signalling a return to the winners enclosure may not be far away. Cavalry Guard rates the main danger having finished second behind an in-form horse of Mick Channon's last time although today's step up to a mile may stretch his stamina whilst Inquisitress is another to have performed well last time out following a win at Kempton. Others worthy of respect include Achromatic who returns from a break for Walter Swinburn and needs a market check whilst Red Current continues to run consistently but we will take Wunder Strike to score here.
