In depth

Verdict

Les Arcs can overcome a modest draw to see off Cordial and Barry Island. A winner at Hamilton for Kieren Fallon, Les Arcs was perhaps overburdened with weight after that success but the gelding showed encouragingly last time out at Musselburgh and in many judges books, would won had there not been massive interference. Although unproven on this surface, the horse is at least in form and holds a formbook chance. Sir Mark Prescott's Cordial returns after a long absence. He looked like making up into a useful performer before this break in his career and his backers will note that Wally Sturt has thought enough of the horse to keep him in training. Barry Island may be best watched after an absence following a below-par run at Sandown. Northside Lodge and the well-drawn Sea Holly look to be two worth a cursory inspection in the market to attain stable confidence. A difficult race to finish on but we will side with Les Arcs at a price.
