In depth

Verdict

An ordinary maiden that can go to Slip Catch, who is selected over Optimum, Midnight Lace and Sea Map, who make up the main body of the opposition. That said, a mention also has to be passed on for Veneer, who fared well against some decent opposition three weeks ago and he can go close if he is in the same mood today. However, it was a modest claimer that he won at Wolverhampton and has a tough test ahead of him at the weights. Optimum tackles a more appropriate trip here and is respected for his connections alone. However, he did not look to anything special last term and already has a bit of improvement to find. Midnight Lace has a bit of stamina on her dam's side and should not be dismissed as she tries this trip for the first time. However, it does appear to be something of an experiment with her and others make more appeal. Sea Map being one, as he may find Lingfield's lay-out more to his liking than the round track at Wolverhampton. He can go well for each-way players at a fair price. However, Sylvester Kirk's charge already has something to prove with Slip Catch, who looks a more solid proposition for now. The Intikhab filly was just worn down close home last time and left the impression that her turn is not too far away. This extra half furlong will not be a problem for her and, with Tony Culhane back in the saddle and hungry for winners, Slip Catch has plenty in her favour this afternoon.
