In depth

Verdict

This looks better than the first division of the maiden with Bee Stinger preferred to Ariodante and The Keep. The last mentioned, a daughter of Shinko Forest trained by Richard Hannon, looks the pick of the newcomers and is a more likely type on pedigree than either Sunny Times or Methodical. The latter of those two is trained by Ian Wood, who is also responsible for the selection Bee Stinger. The son of Almaty stepped up considerably on his debut form when a close third behind Lady Chef here over seven furlongs last time. The drops in trip should not inconvenience this speedily bred colt, who looks a better bet than Ariodante who showed plenty of promise on his Bath debut but is not certain to reproduce that here. Similar comments apply to Peter Makin's Louphole but he still makes more appeal than either Monash Lad or Play Up Pompey in a race that is taken to go to Bee Stinger.
