In depth

Verdict

A weak sprint handicap that looks at the mercy of BOLLYWOOD STYLE ahead of After The Show and Hatman Jack. John Best's runner took second off a mark of 56 last time in what was a more competitive race, so with today's drop back to the minimum trip potentially in her favour and only 2lbs more to shoulder, we're confident the mare can take this contest. She's only had 14 starts and has placed on seven occasions, winning once, so for the grade she represents a consistent sort and should be hard to beat. After The Show is put forward as the one most likely to cause an upset. A course and distance winner in the past, the nine-year-old ran well when a close up fourth last time and should be staying on to good effect late in the day. Whether there will be enough pace on for the gelding to score is debatable but Hatman Jack is at least likely to set a reasonable gallop. Brendan Powell's inmate was well backed on debut and it's fair to say connections had hoped he'd turn out better than a 57-rated animal, but despite disappointing more than once the gelding could take a hand in the finish here particularly if enjoying a soft lead. Sherjawy looks reasonably treated on his win at Southwell but he's yet to impress here so a bigger threat might come from Wreningham. Stuart Williams has his string in good order and this one has won off higher marks at this trip, however there'd have to be strong market support for us to turn our attentions to a horse who was well beaten in selling company last time. Ten Down has done all his winning at the minimum, including here off higher marks last year, but connections will need new jockey Hayley Turner to coax this one back to form after some lifeless efforts of late. Woodcote was rated in the 90's once but has been woefully out of sorts recently and even a rapidly declining mark may not help matters, Meikle Barfil has a poor strike rate and looks held whilst the others need to improve drastically on their latest attempts. Another moderate sprint handicap but one stands out and that horse is Bollywood Style, who can be strongly fancied to score.
