    In depth

    Verdict

Nawow, the winner of a moderate maiden here before Christmas, can only improve, but the handicapper looks to have taken no chances with him. A half-brother to 10-furlong winner, Platinum Charmer is expected to find improvement for this step up in trip, but Kevin Ryan's Kahyasi gelding has plenty to find with Town Called Malice on their running at Southwell. The latter looks to be on the upgrade having started off winning a seller and certainly lost nothing in defeat when attempting to give weight to the well regarded Big Luciano at Wolverhampton last month. King Revo will be suited by this stiffer test and should go well as should the top weight Greta D'Argent, who will appreciate this step up in trip being a half-brother to the prolific scorer Mana D'Argent. Handicap debutante Shingles, who has been off the track since September is worth keeping an eye on regarding the future, but selling winner Bishops Finger looks to have too much on at this level. A Beetoo makes a quick reappearence having turned in her best effort to date over the weekend and if she stays, she must go well, but a chance is taken with the somewhat disappointing maiden Californian. He looked a winner waiting to happen when beaten less than a length in a fair nursery at Newmarket back in August. He has yet to better that effort in four subsequent outings, but it is hoped that a break has done him good and as he is from the same family as the useful 10-furlong performer Halland, this trip should be well within his compass. He may have most to fear from Wizard Of The West, who has shaped well in maidens and doesn't look oveburdened off this mark of 71.
