In depth

Verdict

Arm Candy sets the standard here and should have the measure of her two rivals, the best of whom is Spinning Ruby. Having beaten a large field of future winners at Newmarket last September, Arm Candy was then aimed at the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes back at Headquarters in October in which she finished only around eight lengths behind Speciosa. Pam Sly's filly went on to frank the form in no uncertain terms by landing the Nell Gwynn on her return last month, and James Toller is hopeful that his inmate will pay to follow as well. Spinning Ruby handled cut in the ground when opening her account at Haydock on her second and final start last September, so today's underfoot conditions on the Turf course will suit, as will the step up in trip, but her bare form leaves her with a bit to find. The outsider of the trio, Sensuous, contested a big sales race at Newbury in the autumn, finishing well adrift, and has only raced on fast going, so will do well to get the better of either of the main pair, with Arm Candy taken to come out on top.
