In depth

Verdict

IBSEN comfortably landed a 2m2f maiden at Downpatrick before just failing to concede 6lb to Definite Earl over the minimum at Ballinrobe. That form may just prove enough in a tricky little race. The Gatechecker just failed to concede 7lb to Star Counsel over slightly further at Killarney but overcame problems to score over this trip at Ballinrobe and can take his revenge on the winner, who has since run poorly at Kilbeggan, as did Aunt Alice in the same race. The latter had looked very progressive previously so something looked amiss that day. Ballycorrigan has had all of his three starts over slightly shorter on this track and improved with each. Kala Brandy comfortably landed a Clonmel maiden last time and though this is tougher she continues to thrive and can make her presence felt.
