Verdict

There were some fingers burnt when BATTLEFORD was beaten at 1/3 on his hurdling debut at Navan last month. Narrowly beaten in the championship bumpers at Cheltenham and Aintree he was expected to take high rank among novice hurdlers this season so should be given another chance. Coeur Joyeux has never won but has run with credit against some smart performers in bumpers and maiden hurdles so he should be thereabouts but Jack Dillinger didn't really get involved in the selection's race at Navan and looks held. New To This Town looked a nice prospect when landing bumpers on his first two starts and though not doing quite as well as expected over hurdles he's the type to start showing some improvement. Navan bumper winner The Rory Story will be better for his hurdling debut at Punchestown and is another expected to improve.
